My device is not initiating a 6to4 tunnel on the WAN. What should I do?
The 6to4 automatic tunneling mechanism defined in RFC 3056 relies on translating globally routable 32-bit IPv4 addresses into a unique 48-bit IPv6 prefix. 6to4 is not designed to work with private IPv4 addresses, which should be avoided when configuring and running tests with CDRouter IPv6.
If the device under test (DUT) is not automatically creating a 6to4 tunnel on the WAN following establishment of the primary IPv4 WAN connection, check the following:
- Ensure that 6to4 is enabled on the DUT
- Ensure that CDRouter is configured to provide a public IPv4 address to the DUT
