CDRouter TR-069 Configuration Basics

Overview

This training module focuses on the basics of testing the Broadband Forum’s TR-069 management protocol, also known as the CPE WAN Management Protocol or CWMP, with CDRouter.

The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the CWMP protocol and the various configuration options that exist for CDRouter’s integrated ACS.

The session will provide an overview of TR-069 concepts, configuration settings and available test modules.

The TR-069 User Guide contains detailed information on all advanced features not covered in this session.

Agenda

  • High-level overview of TR-069
    • Architecture and CWMP protocol operation
    • Data model structure
  • Overview of CDRouter’s TR-069 configuration options and create a working TR-069 configuration for one DUT
    • Start with a basic, working IPv4 CDRouter configuration
    • Enable and configure TR-069 with basic settings
    • Enable and configure NTP (this is required for HTTPS)
    • Enable and configure HTTPS on the ACS
    • Enable and configure XMPP for connection requests
  • Overview of the TR-069 test modules included with CDRouter
    • CWMP Protocol operation between DUT and ACS
    • Data Model parameter verification (TR-181 or TR-098)
    • CWMP Scenario custom test scripting feature
  • Create a simple test package for TR-069 using the TR-069 Test List (which includes 39 core tests)

Prerequisites

  • Please note, this training module is not intended to cover the TR-069 CWMP protocol. Attendees should already have a working knowledge of TR-069 concepts and operation, and will learn how to configure CDRouter’s features in order to test their devices.

  • All prerequisites from the CDRouter Basics training module must be in place prior to the start of training.

  • Access to DUT’s management interface should be available in order to modify configuration settings (eg. enable HTTPS and/or XMPP).

  • If possible, the DUT should be pre-configured using the following settings:

    • ACS URL: http://acs.cdroutertest.com
    • ACS username: qacafe
    • ACS password: qacafe123
  • Note, TR-069 over HTTPS/TLS requires special considerations in order for the DUT to successfully connect to CDRouter’s ACS. Please let us know ahead of time if your device does not support any of the following:

    • Modifying the ACS URL with a custom domain name
    • Modifying the ACS Username/Password
    • Adding TLS trusted CA Certificates
