CloudShark 5.0.0

July 14th, 2025

We are excited to announce CloudShark Enterprise 5.0, a transformative release that removes all user and instance limitations while introducing powerful new search capabilities and a comprehensive packet analysis API. This release represents our commitment to making advanced network analysis accessible to entire organizations without restrictions.

What’s New?

Unlimited Enterprise Licensing

CloudShark Enterprise 5.0 introduces an unlimited licensing model that removes all barriers to organization-wide deployment:

  • Unlimited Users: No more user count restrictions - deploy CloudShark across your entire organization wherever and however you need it
  • Unlimited Instances: Scale your network analysis capabilities without licensing constraints
  • Universal SAML/OAuth Support: Enterprise authentication features now available to all users
  • Simplified License Management: Streamlined licensing system eliminates the need for separate license servers

This new licensing approach ensures that every member of your network operations, security, and engineering teams can leverage CloudShark’s advanced packet analysis capabilities without worrying about user limits or additional licensing costs.

Deep Search has been completely reimagined to operate at unlimited scale:

  • Database-Wide Search: Search across your entire repository of capture files, not just a single page
  • Advanced Result Filtering: Combine Deep Search results with existing Index Filters for precise discovery
  • Ordered Results: Search results now follow index sort order for better relevance and consistency

Previously, Deep Search was limited to files you selected, which meant you had to know where your data was before you could search it. Now it searches everything in your database automatically, so you can find matching packets without having to guess which files contain them or spend time selecting the right captures first.

New Packet Analysis API

CloudShark Enterprise 5.0 introduces a new v2 API endpoint that provides programmatic access to our advanced packet analysis capabilities:

  • Deep Packet Analysis Endpoint: Programmatic access to the same powerful Packet Viewer analysis engine that powers the CloudShark interface
  • Token-Based Authentication: Secure API access with configurable permissions
  • Comprehensive Documentation: Complete API specifications available through our support site

This new API opens up CloudShark’s analysis capabilities to custom applications, automated workflows, AI, and integration with existing security and monitoring platforms.

Enhanced Ladder Diagrams

Our ladder diagram functionality has been completely rebuilt using the latest Packet Viewer components, delivering faster rendering and more responsive interaction with complex network conversations. The new implementation provides enhanced spacing and improved address display for better readability, along with more flexible configuration options and better protocol visualization.

Modernized Platform Foundation

CloudShark Enterprise 5.0 is built exclusively on Rocky Linux 9, providing full compatibility with the latest Rocky Linux release for enhanced security and stability. The updated OVA deployment offers a modernized virtual appliance with drop-in replacement capability for existing installations.

System Component Upgrades

CloudShark Enterprise 5.0 includes Wireshark 4.4.7 with the latest protocol dissectors and security updates, including resolution of CVE-2025-5601.

Bug Fixes and Other Changes

  • Added packet tree search functionality in the decode window
  • Enhanced system health monitoring for PacketViewer, Redis, and Suricata
  • Improved error messaging for compressed files and analysis tool issues
  • Increased Suricata timeout to 120 seconds for better reliability
  • New Drag & drop license installation interface on startup

Upgrading

CloudShark Enterprise 5.0 is available to download as an OVA disk image ready to import into VMWare or compatible platform.
